Common Questions
Yes — but it's a Chinese Group Visa, not an individual tourist visa. We arrange this through the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. You must be physically in Kathmandu for 5 working days. Your existing Chinese visa (if any) will be cancelled when the Group Visa is issued — this is normal.
Overland (Kyirong): Better for Kailash pilgrims. Gradual acclimatization. Scenic Himalayan drive. 14 days.
Fly (KTM→Lhasa): Better for Lhasa cultural tours. Faster. More comfortable. 5-9 days. Many travelers combine both — fly to Lhasa, tour, then drive to Kailash.
Tour packages are priced in USD. In Tibet, bring Chinese Yuan (RMB). ATMs are available in Lhasa. We recommend exchanging money in Kathmandu before crossing the border. Indian rupees are not accepted in Tibet.
